Salman Khan wants to work with Lawrence

This is an age of sequels and prequels in K’town.

So when choreographer- turned-actor-and-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence chose his hit movie Muni, which was released a few years back, on which to base a sequel called Kanchana, no one was really surprised.

The biggest revelation in the movie is the superb actor-turned-politician Sarath Kumar, who has been persuaded by Lawrence to play a transgender, a role which no other actor of his caliber would dare experiment with.

Sarath Kumar has gone in for an image makeover. He said that he was floored and immediately gave his nod when Lawrence narrated the script. The actor also revealed that he is taking a cue from Bollywood biggie Amitabh Bachchan to go in for meaningful roles rather than continue with the clichéd stuff.

Besides having penned the story and screenplay and directing the film, Lawrence portrays the lead protagonist and keeping him company is sizzling Lakshmi Rai.

Says Lawrence, “Lakshmi Rai is not a mere glam doll here. She has a great role to perform and she’s going to be a surprise package as well. A suspense thriller, the movie will have humour and high action. Graphics on par with Hollywood standards will be the talking point of Kanchana.” This project sees comedian Kovai Sarala back in Tamil films after a long hiatus.

Thaman’s music is said to be the highlight of the movie, produced by Thenandal Films.

The icing on the cake is that Bollywood hot star Salman Khan, who watched the slick trailers and songs at a private screening was so fascinated that he expressed an interest to star in the Hindi version.

Interestingly, Hindi remakes of South films have proved lucky for Sallu at the box-office!
